Identifying Allergens and meeting Dietary and Religious Food requests
The Catering department has a legal responsibility to identify and highlight where food it serves contains any of the 14 Allergens specified in the EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation No. 1169/2011 and make this information available to diners.
In addition we always provide a vegetarian option in the cafeteria, at College Dinners and Formal Hall. We endeavour to cater for all specific dietary requests when informed in advance and where this is practical and financially viable for the event the request is made for.
When requested in advance we will cater for religious requirements at Formal Hall and College Dinners, however where this is cost prohibitive we will work with individuals to agree a suitable and acceptable way forward.
We only purchase Halal meat that is stunned before slaughter and this is generally only served on request and by prior arrangement.
From time to time to provide variety on the menu meat products that are acceptable under Islamic Dietary Law may be available to choose at the cafeteria servery. We will always make this information available by noting it as "Halal" on the menu and the dish will have a "Halal" dietary label displayed in front of it on the servery. This is so that customers can make an informed choice.
