    Events at Murray Edwards College

    We hold a range of events for school students throughout the year. Some of these events are subject specific, while others are designed to offer a more general insight into College life and studying at Cambridge.

     

    College Open Days

    Primarily for high-achieving Year 12 students who identify as female.

    • Hear from academic Fellows and current students
    • Find out about the application process
    • Take a College tour
    • Get a feel for what life is like as a Cambridge student
    Virtual Open Day  Designed for Year 12 students but can be used by any age group
    Shadowing Scheme

    Run in conjunction with Cambridge University SU (Students' Union). Please see their website for more details.

    • Shadow a current undergraduate
    • Get a feel for life as a Cambridge student

    Subject taster days

     

    For students who identify as female and who would like to find out more about what it is like to study a particular subject at Cambridge University.

    • Take part in subject taster sessions led by academics from Murray Edwards College
    • Find out about the Cambridge application process
    • Meet current students who are studying the subject
    February Half Term 2022 Year 12
    She Talks Science Conference

    A one-day conference for students who identify as female and who are considering studying STEM subjects at a top universities.

    • Hear inspiring women talk about their careers in science
    • Take part in an academic seminar about a topical science issue
    • Find out about the Cambridge application process
    Spring 2022 Year 12
     Science  Teachers' Conference

    A conference for post-16 STEM teachers and leaders:

    • Engage with academics who are actively involved in science teaching and research at Cambridge University. 
    • Gain a more in-depth understanding of course structure, teaching methods and Admissions in science subjects.
    • Hear from current undergraduates about studying science at Cambridge
    Summer 2022 Teachers
    Pathways to Success conference

    A multi-day event for high-achieving students who identify as female.

    • Hear about the different perceptions of what 'success' looks like in the world of work
    • Take part in academic seminars in a subject of interest
    • Make sense of academic and career choices
    July 2022 Year 12
    Low Participation Neighbourhood Summer School

    This summer school is designed to encourage academically able students – from areas of the country where students are less likely to enter higher education – to consider making applications to top universities, including Cambridge.

    She Talks Science STEP Summer School

    An event for students who identify as female and who are intending to study maths at a top-level university.

    • Participate in workshops dealing with the type of maths found in STEP exams
    • Take part in maths talks and Q&A sessions

    Application Days

    For school students in Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and Haringey who are seriously considering applications to Cambridge.

    • Find out about the application process
    • Participate in an interview workshop
    • Find out about extended reading
    • Talk with undergraduates about student life at Cambridge

    For school students from Greater Manchester, Derbyshire and Haringey who may aspire to university and who are beginning to consider the choices ahead.
