At Murray Edwards, we are positively encouraged to walk on the grass. This is very different from most other Cambridge colleges, where the lawns are forbidden territories! For me, the freedom and openness that we find in the College gardens is a reflection of the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that can be found across the College. It's a great place to teach and conduct my research.

    Research interests

My research focuses on relations of power and resistance in the Middle East, with a particular focus on Iran. I am especially interested in exploring the impacts of foreign economic involvement in the region on Iran's international relations as well as its domestic politics.

    Biography

I have been directing studies and supervising for a number of Politics and International Relations papers here at Murray Edwards ever since I joined the College in 2007. I especially enjoy teaching for the Part I papers in these subjects, as they allow me to explore core concepts and themes with my students. During my time at Murray Edwards, I have also served on a number of committees, including College Council, and I have provided pastoral support to our students as a Tutor for a number of years. In 2019-20, I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to serve as Deputy Senior Tutor.
