We are delighted to announce that in June 2019, Murray Edwards College will be presented with a Gold Green Impact award.

Green Impact is the University's environmental accreditation scheme. The scheme encourages and supports Colleges and departments across the University to reduce their environmental impact and improve sustainability.

Teri Byrne, Catering Operations Manager, commented: "We are absolutely thrilled to receive a Gold Green Impact award. We only entered the accreditation scheme three months before the workbook submission deadline and the fact we achieved Gold is down to the hard work and commitment of everyone on the team. This really is testament to the positive direction we're going in and I am hugely proud of what we have done in such a short space of time."

The Green Impact auditors spoke very positively about the work that's taking place throughout the College: "The work done in the few months is impressive and it is nice to see such a motivated team. In particular, the effort that has been put into the gardens to make it a space of biodiversity and for the community has been amazing to see." Some of the initiatives they were particularly impressed with were events such as the clothes swap scheme, Green Formal and termly meetings, as well as the gardening team's concerted efforts to involve students.
